Slow Society is guided by the motto "Slowness for Sustainability". The philosophy rests on the following beliefs: Only a reflective society can anticipate and adapt to crises. Only a society with slow resource use has the option to preserve and enhance its biological and cultural diversity. Only a society that has a critical view on technology can regulate its use of technology. Only a society where people have the right to be slow has become aware of human suffering in a fast society. Only a slow society can be in harmony with a slow planet.
Wise leadership presupposes time and space for dialogue and reflection, and a sense of where we are going. If we wholeheartedly devote ourselves to the important issues every day, we can hopefully change the world in a more sustainable direction, collectively and individually build a society that is both human and resilient.
